Ingredients

For the Steak Bites:

  • lbs sirloin or ribeye steak cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley optional

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 2 lbs russet or Yukon Gold potatoes peeled and chopped
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ½ cup milk or cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Cook the Potatoes:

  • Add chopped potatoes to a large pot of salted water.
  • Bring to a boil and cook until fork-tender, about 15–20 minutes.
  • Drain and return potatoes to the pot.
  • Mash with butter and milk until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper.

Cook the Steak Bites:

  • Pat steak cubes dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Sear steak bites in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 2–3 minutes per side until browned and caramelized.
  • Remove steak from skillet and reduce heat to medium.
  • Add butter and minced garlic to the pan. Stir until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  • Return steak bites to the skillet. Toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce.

Assemble the Plate:

  • Spoon mashed potatoes onto a plate.
  • Pile steak bites over the top.
  • Drizzle with extra garlic butter from the pan.
  • Sprinkle with fresh parsley for color and a burst of freshness.
